                 अर्जुन की प्रतिज्ञा(Arjun ki Pratigya)

कृष्ण ज्ञान 

महाभारत का भयंकर युद्ध चल रहा था। लड़ते-लड़के अर्जुन रणक्षेत्र से दूर चले गए थे। अर्जुन की अनुपस्थिति में पाण्डवों को पराजित करने के लिए द्रोणाचार्य ने चक्रव्यूह की रचना की। अर्जुन-पुत्र अभिमन्यु चक्रव्यूह भेदने के लिए उसमें घुस गया। उसे चक्रव्यूह भेदने की सही जानकारी न होने के कारण उसने कुशलतापूर्वक चक्रव्यूह के छः चरण भेद लिए, लेकिन सातवें चरण में उसे दुर्योधन, जयद्रथ आदि सात महारथियों ने घेर लिया और उस पर टूट पड़े। जयद्रथ ने पीछे से निहत्थे अभिमन्यु पर जोरदार प्रहार किया। वह वार इतना तीव्र था कि अभिमन्यु उसे सहन नहीं कर सका और वीरगति को प्राप्त हो गया।

अभिमन्यु की मृत्यु का समाचार सुनकर अर्जुन क्रोध से पागल हो उठा। उसने प्रतिज्ञा की कि यदि अगले दिन सूर्यास्त से पहले उसने जयद्रथ का वध नहीं किया तो वह आत्मदाह कर लेगा। जयद्रथ भयभीत होकर दुर्योधन के पास पहुँचा और अर्जुन की प्रतिज्ञा के बारे में बताया।

दुर्य़ोधन उसका भय दूर करते हुए बोला-“चिंता मत करो, मित्र! मैं और सारी कौरव सेना तुम्हारी रक्षा करेंगे। अर्जुन कल तुम तक नहीं पहुँच पाएगा। उसे आत्मदाह करना पड़ेगा।” अगले दिन युद्ध शुरू हुआ।

अर्जुन की आँखें जयद्रथ को ढूँढ रही थीं, किंतु वह कहीं नहीं मिला। दिन बीतने लगा। धीरे-धीरे अर्जुन की निराशा बढ़ती गई। 

यह देख श्रीकृष्ण बोले-“पार्थ! समय बीत रहा है और कौरव सेना ने जयद्रथ को रक्षा कवच में घेर रखा है। अतः तुम शीघ्रता से कौरव सेना का संहार करते हुए अपने लक्ष्य की ओर बढ़ो।”

यह सुनकर अर्जुन का उत्साह बढ़ा और वह जोश से लड़ने लगे। लेकिन जयद्रथ तक पहुँचना मुश्किल था। संध्या होने वाली थी। 

तब श्रीकृष्ण ने अपनी माया फैला दी। इसके फलस्वरूप सूर्य बादलों में छिप गया और संध्या का भ्रम उत्पन्न हो गया। ‘संध्या हो गई है और अब अर्जुन को प्रतिज्ञावश आत्मदाह करना होगा।

यह सोचकर जयद्रथ और दुर्योधन खुशी से उछल पड़े। अर्जुन को आत्मदाह करते देखने के लिए जयद्रथ कौरव सेना के आगे आकर अट्टहास करने लगा।

जयद्रथ को देखकर श्रीकृष्ण बोले-“पार्थ! तुम्हारा शत्रु तुम्हारे सामने खड़ा है। उठाओ अपना गांडीव और वध कर दो इसका। वह देखो अभी सूर्यास्त नहीं हुआ है।” यह कहकर उन्होंने अपनी माया समेट ली। देखते-ही-देखते सूर्य बादलों से निकल आया। सबकी द्रष्टि  आसमान की ओर उठ गई। सूर्य अभी भी चमक रहा था।

यह देख जयद्रथ और दुर्योधन के पैरों तले जमीन खिसक गई। जयद्रथ भागने लगा  लेकिन तब तक अर्जुन ने अपना गांडीव धनुष उठा लिया था।

तभी श्रीकृष्ण चेतावनी देते हुए बोले-“हे अर्जुन! जयद्रथ के पिता ने इसे वरदान दिया था कि जो इसका मस्तक जमीन पर गिराएगा, उसका मस्तक भी सौ टुकड़ों में विभक्त हो जाएगा। इसलिए यदि इसका सिर ज़मीन पर गिरा तो तुम्हारे सिर के भी सौ टुकड़े हो जाएँगे। हे पार्थ! उत्तर दिशा में यहाँ से सो योजन की दूरी पर जयद्रथ का पिता तप कर रहा है। तुम इसका मस्तक ऐसे काटो कि वह इसके पिता की गोद में जाकर गिरे।”

अर्जुन ने श्रीकृष्ण की चेतावनी ध्यान से सुनी और अपनी लक्ष्य की ओर ध्यान कर बाण छोड़ दिया। उस बाण ने जयद्रथ का सिर धड़ से अलग कर दिया और उसे लेकर सीधा जयद्रथ के पिता की गोद में जाकर गिरा। जयद्रथ का पिता चौंककर उठा तो उसकी गोद में से सिर ज़मीन पर गिर गया। सिर के जमीन पर गिरते ही उनके सिर के भी सौ टुकड़े हो गए। इस प्रकार अर्जुन की प्रतिज्ञा पूरी हुई।

             Arjuna's pledge(Arjun ki pratigya)

The fierce war of Mahabharata was going on. The fighting-boy Arjuna had gone away from the battlefield. In order to defeat the Pandavas in the absence of Arjuna, Dronacharya composed the Chakravyuh. Arjuna-son Abhimanyu entered it to penetrate the Chakravyuh. Due to not having the right knowledge to penetrate the Chakravyuh, he skillfully took the six stages of Chakravyuh, but in the seventh phase he was surrounded by seven maharathis like Duryodhana, Jayadratha etc. and broke on him. Jayadratha attacked the unarmed Abhimanyu from behind. The attack was so intense that Abhimanyu could not bear it and Veeragati was attained.

Hearing the news of Abhimanyu's death, Arjun became mad with anger. He vowed that if he did not kill Jayadratha before sunset the next day, he would commit suicide. Frightened Jayadratha approached Duryodhana and told him about Arjuna's vow.

Duryodhana said removing his fear- "Don't worry, friend! I and all the Kaurava army will protect you. Arjun will not be able to reach to you tomorrow. He has to commit self-immolation. " The next day the war started.

Arjun's eyes were looking for Jayadratha, but he is nowhere to be found. Day started to pass on. Gradually Arjun's despair increased. Seeing this, Shri Krishna said- “Partha! Time is passing by and the Kaurava army surrounds Jayadratha in defense cover. So, hurry and kill the Kaurava army and move towards your goal. "

Hearing this, Arjun got excited and he started fighting with enthusiasm. But to reach till Jaidrath was difficult. It was going to be dusk. Then Shri Krishna spread his illusion. As a result, the sun hid in the clouds and evening confusion arose. ‘It is evening and now Arjuna will have to commit self-immolation to self-immolation.’ - Jayadratha and Duryodhana jumped with joy thinking this. To see Arjuna commit self-immolation, Jayadratha came in front of the Kaurava army and began to laugh.

Seeing Jayadratha, Shri Krishna said- “Partha! Your enemy is standing in front of you. Pick up your bow and kill him. Look it's not sunset yet. " After saying this, he withdrew His illusion. Suddenly the sun came out of the clouds. Everyone looked up in the sky. Sun was still shining.

Seeing this, the ground slipped under the feet of Jayadratha and Duryodhana. Jayadratha was about to run away but by then Arjuna had lifted his Gandiva. Then Shri Krishna warned, “O Arjuna! It was boon given by Jayadratha's father that his head would be split into a hundred pieces. Therefore, if its head falls on the ground, then your head will also be hundred pieces. Hey Parth! Jayadratha's father is meditating at a distance from here in the north direction. You cut its head so that it falls into the lap of its father. "

Arjuna listened attentively to Shri Krishna's warning and meditated towards his goal and released the arrow. That arrow severed Jayadratha's head and fell straight into Jayadratha's father's lap with him. Jayadratha's father woke up when his head fell from his lap to the ground. As soon as the head fell on the ground, his head also got a hundred pieces. Thus, Arjun's promise was fulfilled.
