एक गांव में एक बनिया रहता था। वह बहुत कंजूस था। एक दिन उसकी पत्नी ने कहा की जाओ गंगा नहाओ। जिससे पाप कम हो जायेगे। बनिया ने सोचा की पत्नी सही कह रही है।
बनिया अगले दिन गंगा जाने के लिए तैयार हो गया। गंगा जी उसके यहां से ४० कोस की दुरी पर थी।
बनिया इतना कंजूस था कि उसने कोई साधन नहीं लिया और पैदल चलने लगा।
चलते -चलते वह काफी दूर निकल आया और वह एक पेड़ के नीचे विश्राम करने लगा।
अचानक उसकी नगर दूर बैठे पंडित जी पर पड़ी। जो लोगो का भविष्य देखते थे। बनिये ने सोचा की मेरे भी दिन अच्छे नहीं चल रहे है क्यों ना पंडित जी को हाथ दिखाते है। और उनके पास जाता है।
बनिया को पास आता देखकर पंडित जी भी सोचे कि अब सारे दिन का खर्चा इन्ही महाशय निकाला जाए ।
बनिया पंडित जी के पास पहुँचता है और कहता की पंडित जी आज -कल मेरे ग्रह साथ नहीं है कुछ हल बताइए। पंडित बोले "महाशय अपना हाथ दिखाए।
बनिया ने अपना हाथ आगे किया। हाथ देखते ही पंडित जी चिल्ला उठे।
बोले "यजमान घोर अनर्थ... राम राम राम ...शनि की महादशा में केतु की अंतर्दशा...राहु तिरछी नजर से सूर्य को देख रहा है और मंगल की दशा ख़राब है ,अरे अरे अरे चन्द्रमा पर तो ग्रहण लगा हुआ है। ...और ये क्या बुद्ध तो क्रुद्ध होके बैठा है ... राम ही बचाए आपको  ...सूर्य की डिग्री तो बहुत मध्यम है साथ में शनि की साढ़े साती च च च और इस बरस है आप के लिए महा विनाशी  महा विनाशी।
पंडित जी टेप रेकॉर्ड की तरह बजते रहे जितना भी उनको ज्योतिष ज्ञान था या नहीं था। सब कुछ सुना दिया। सोचा कि ये क्लाइंट तो जरूर फसेगा।

(रुआँसा) बनिया बोला" महाराज ऐसा न कहे ,कोई तो उपाय होगा ,दया करे .... कुछ कृपा करे ।
पंडित जी बोले "वैसे तुम्हारा कुछ हो नहीं सकता।
बनिया बोला"महाराज इसका कोई तो हल होगा ।
पंडित जी बोले"ग्यारह सौ एक रुपए निकालो ... एक पूजा करा देते है।  सब ठीक हो जायगा।
(रुआँसा) बनिया बोला"पंडित जी महाराज भगवान कसम मेरे पास ग्यारह सौ एक रुपए नहीं  है।
पंडित जी (अपनी पलथी ठीक करके )बोले "एक बार और हाथ दिखाना। और देखते ही ....अहा  लगता है चन्द्रमा पर से ग्रहण उतर रहा है। एक काम करो पांच सौ एक रूपये निकालो एक पूजा करा देते है. सब ठीक हो जायेगा।
बनिया बोला"पंडित जी महाराज भगवान कसम मेरे पास पांच सौ एक रुपए नहीं  है।
पंडित जी को लगा की क्लाइंट भाग न जाये ,इतना लालच ठीक नहीं।
पंडित जी एक बार और हाथ देना जारा....कुछ रह गया है।  हाथ देखकर लगता है सूर्य की डिग्री कुछ बढ़ गयी है और तुम्हरा साल कुछ ठीक जाने वाला है।
पंडित जी बोले एक काम करो एक सौ एक रूपये निकालो। एक पूजा करा देते है।  सब ठीक हो जायगा।
बनिया(दयनीय मुँह बनाकर) -पंडित जी महाराज भगवान कसम मेरे पास एक सौ एक रुपए नहीं  है
पंडित जी आग बबूला होकर चिल्ला उठा और बोला अरे आदमी हो या और कुछ ,लाओ हाथ दो ....हाथ देखकर शनि का कुछ करना ही होगा .. इससे कम क्या होगा .... सवा रुपया निकालो.. एक पूजा करा देते है।  सब ठीक हो जायगा।
बनिया बोला"पंडित जी महाराज भगवान कसम मेरे सवा रुपए नहीं  है।
पंडित जी बोले सवा रुपए नहीं है।
बनिया बोला"महाराज नहीं है।
पंडित जी यह सुनते ही अपना बोरिया -बिस्तरा छोड़कर वहां से भाग खड़े होते है।
बनिया सोचता है की पंडित जी क्यों भाग खड़े हुए अभी तो बचे हुए ग्रह उतरवाने है यह सोचकर गंगा नहाने चला जाता है।
